Juliet had her first school disco of the year last night, she spent her afternoon picking out her outfit (One of my old jumpsuits, paired with a faux pearl bracelet, frilly rose purse, pretty black flower headband and her new shoes) On the drive to her school she told me excitedly, how her and her friends were going to dance crazy and had been practising their moves all day. I dropped her off and she skipped into the gates looking out for her friends.Fast forward a few hours and she arrived home noticeably giddy and bursting with excitement. After asking a few questions on how her disco went, it quickly turned to the slow dances and that she and ‘Ollie’ had partnered up.She went into detail how lovely and polite he was and that he has pretty blue eyes like daddy..I could have scraped her off the walls.. One of the ‘slow songs’ she danced to was Michael Jackson’s.. so she insisted on going to sleep listening to his back catalogue on her ipod dock. I can’t help but think of my first crush in primary school and how the build up to the school dance was on par to christmas or a birthday. The moment the ‘slow song’ starts and you dart your eyes across the room looking for your crush.. You would sheepishly walk up to one another and start dancing looking anywhere but each others face.. and for a moment the world stopped and in the sweaty grip of some boy you think the world of, you felt like Cinderella Being a witness to the simplest of life moments is truly the best experience a parent can have!

If you squint you can make out Juliet sprinting onto the bus for her first school camp. Kid has been counting the sleeps till she could go and try her hand at archery, sailing, rock climbing, Flying fox’ing and sleeping on a 4 bed high bunk with her best friends! As the bus’s drove off all the parents cheered, it was exactly like that episode of Simpsons.. Juliet shot me a thumbs up thru the window and all was good in the world :)

Robert, our dog is an outside pet unless we are home, he has a kennel that he sleeps in of a night. This doesn’t phase dear Robert and every night he tries to sneak into Juliet’s bed for a sleepover. He also likes to wake up early so we don’t normally have sleep overs unless its school holidays or the weekend.. Last night he was waiting for his sister like clockwork much to Juliet’s excitement for his weekly sleepover..
